    IN ASSOCIATION WITH NGOs NETWORK
    SAMUGAM involved in networking NGOs in India since 1997 under the name of Indian NGOs Network (INN). In Tamil Nadu alone around 1500 NGOs are brought under this network. Every year on the day of World Food Day, we are arranging lunch with sweet for 5000 slum people in North Chennai.

    CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION WITH RAMANASHRAMAM
    Celebration of Christmas Festival with Ramanashramam at Tiruvannamalai. The President of Ramanashramam, Shri.Ramanan presided over the function at our Tiruvannamalai Branch and gives the Christmas cake to child.     TSUNAMI RELIEF WORK
    With the help of our members, self help group members, youth and well-wishers, we were able to mobilise about Rs.50,00,000/-, which includes cloths, utensils, rice and other house hold articles. All these were distributed to the Tsunami affected people of Kasimedu – Chennai. The affected people were identified in co-ordination with local councilor at New Washermanpet.     HOME FOR THE AGED
    A Home for the helpless Aged was started at Selayur, Chennai. 15 aged people were admitted in the home. They were provided free accommodation for and all other usable to these aged. Thanks to State Bank of India, Chennai Main Branch for providing Beds, Bed sheets, Mat, Carpet, Pillow and other usable to all the inmates (Aged). This home had been stopped due to financial constraint .

    ENERGY CONSERVATION AT CHENNAI
    Awareness programmes and Trainings were arranged and conducted on Energy conservation, in Association with Petroleum Corporation of India. A senior level Officer fro Govt. of India was deputed to conduct the awareness and training programme for Self Help Group Members in Chennai District. Around 500 SHG members were trained under this scheme.

    SAMUGAM has developed a Cultural Team by 1993, consisting of 12 members. They were provided with necessary musical instruments. This team is in action to provide general awareness, Health, Sanitation, HIV/AIDS, Drug Abuse, Legal and all awareness for the people of Tamil Nadu.

    MEDICAL CAMPS IN VILLAGES
    Since 1993 April we have started to conduct medical camps in villages in every Fridays. 250 to 300 village people used to attend in each camp and benefitted by this medical camps. Used to screen and treat STD/HIV patients and Drug addicts, apart from general medical check-up and treatment.

    DE-ADDICTION TREATMENT CUM REHABILITATION CENTRE
    In continuation and extension of the de-addiction centre, the treatment and rehabilitation centre was started by 1999. The centre was inaugurated at Tiruvannamalai by His Excellence Consulate General of Japan (at Chennai) on 9th September 1999. This year alone 1252 drug addicts were admitted into our clinic and much care taken to treat and counsel them.
